The left Side is a mic, not a speaker, so don’t worry about that side. Squeeze the bottom right hand corner of the phone above where the speaker is. This one is a bit weird but it worked for me for a while and has worked successfully for other people. Make sure to backup your iPhone to the cloud / iTunes as this will wipe your media, music, and apps although photos will be left on the iPhone. This is a follow on to step 2 and another way you will be able to eliminate the glitch on the iPhone. Go to Settings> General> Reset> Reset all settings. When off, click the side button to turn on again. Once done, you’ll then be promoted to restart the iPhone. If you have an iPhone X or newer, you can simply restart the device by pressing and holding both the side button and one of the volume buttons. Also if there is a glitch this may help terminate a temporary glitch. If there is a temporary glitch on the iPhone this will eliminate that glitch. I followed the instructions, but still the problem persisted. I kept searching for a resolution and came across Get help connecting your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with your car stereo. But, there is no way to control the music from the car, only from the phone, as it has been acting as a audio streaming service. Then I figured out, that I could connect the phone as a USB device and the audio was back. I had to keep looking at the phone, quite a often.
Yes, I use Google Maps instead of the default. I could have leaved with out the music but it was difficult to follow Google Map’s navigation instruction. All of a sudden, there was no Bluetooth audio in my car (Corolla 2016), when paired with my iPhone.
